A Costa Rican artist found himself in hot water with the animal protection people in his

home country after using a starving, sick street dog as part of an exposition in Managua,
Nicaragua, in August. Guillermo "Habacuc" Vargas allegedly found the dog tied up on a street
corner in a poor Nicaragua barrio and brought it to the showing. He tied the dog, according to
furious animal lovers, in a corner of the salon where it died a day after.


ART: 1. the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles,
of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

so... when was art's definition extended to include the allowance of intentional s
uffering and/or death of another living thing against its own choice or will. while art should instigate discussion, i
t should never be through this way. this is truly disgusting.

tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death.

For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have
watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony,
until eventually he died.

American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that
Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the

Hmmm.. I've been wondering? Is there anyway that you can find out the history of

1. Who has added you as a friend
2. Who you have added as a friend

The reason for this is that I used to read a journal on LJ of a New Yorker who loved his photography and posted everything public. Not much to go on I know. I know his account had a 'g' in it LOL

I have tried to search and search but nothing on either or my accounts but I forgot to add to my journal and by mistake had removed off this one.
You would know this LJer just by looking at his profile page, because there was about 300 on his friends list and well over a 1000 on his friends of list. Anyone have this person on their list?

Chemists could be given the power to hand out the Pill without prescription under controversial plans unveiled by the Government.

Women and girls under 16 would be able to obtain the oral contraceptive after a simple interview with qualified pharmacists.

The pilot scheme could put the Pill on the same footing as the morning after pill, which is already available without direct authorisation from a doctor.

Health minister Lord Darzi insisted "robust" standards would be put in place to ensure that staff were up to the job.

"We recognise that pharmacies could play an increased role in the provision of contraception and other sexual health services because of their accessibility and convenient opening hours," he told the House of Lords.

"We will work with primary care trusts over the next year to pilot supply of contraception, including the contraceptive pill, through NHS arrangements.

"We will work with the pharmacy profession to ensure robust standards setting appropriate training to ensure that pharmacists are competent to provide this service."

According to the Department of Health, a senior clinician at strategic health authorities (SHAs) would issue instructions called patient group directions (PGDs) to suitably-trained people like pharmacists.

PGDs are documents which make it legal for medicines to be given to groups of patients.

They enable pharmacists to consult with the patient and supply drugs without the need for individual prescriptions. These arrangements are currently in place for the morning-after pill.
